Cover reveal: Raise the Blade

I promised this a few days ago but things have been getting in the way ever since. However, at last I’ve knuckled down and got everything updated and I’m now all set to say…

*drum roll*

*fanfare*

Here it is, in all its gory glory! The new cover for ‘Raise the Blade’. I hope you like it – and don’t forget, the re-badged, re-published book is coming very soon! So keep checking back for more news.

Gravy Train cover reveal

Regular readers will remember that I mentioned a few months back that my first ever full-length novel, ‘Gravy Train’, is due out from All Due Respect in November.

Well, work has been going on in the background ever since and the big news is that the book now has a cover. And here it is.

GT v5

I love it. I love the grungy look, I love the sense of speed conjured in the top image, I love the fact that it could easily be a street corner pub in Birmingham. I even love the font, which is similar enough to the one used on ‘Raise the Blade’ to be something of a Tess Makovesky brand. Many thanks to Eric Beetner for all his hard work in conjuring this up from not much more than a blurb and some vague mumblings from me.

November might sound like ages away yet but it’s only five months and the time will pass in the same high-speed blur as the cars on that photo. I’m already getting excited – I hope you are too.

A brand new interview

I’m delighted to say I’ve been interviewed by the ever-supportive Fiona McVie, who runs a blog devoted to finding out more about authors both established and less-well-known. Answering her questions was almost as much work as my latest novel, and really made me think! I hope you’ll enjoy the results, which include a scattering of details about Raise the Blade (inspiration for the plot and characters; cover art) together with all sorts of information on me, my life, my hobbies and interests, my favourite authors, and a great deal else besides.

I almost missed it, but the interview went live on Saturday – so apologies for the delay in posting about it.  Better late than never, and you can read the whole thing here.

Raise the Blade cover reveal

I’m jumping up and down with excitement because I can now share the cover artwork for my forthcoming novella ‘Raise the Blade’.  I had quite a struggle with this because the art team at Caffeine Nights sent me two different versions and I liked both so much I couldn’t choose between them!  Eventually, after much dithering in the undergrowth, I selected this one:

Raise the Blade Front

I think it’s amazing, and absolutely ‘right’ for the book.  There’s a reason for all that duct tape, too, but I’m not going to say what it is.  You’ll just have to read the book and find out for yourselves.

‘Raise the Blade’ is due out from Caffeine Nights in the coming months.  You can bet I’ll let everyone know when I have the date!

Rogue cover

That isn’t “a” rogue cover, by the way, it’s “the” Rogue cover.  As in, the brand new cover artwork for the Rogue anthology, which is due pretty soon from Gritfiction Press.  I’m delighted to say I have a story in the collection, ‘Singing From the Same Sheet’, and I’m even more delighted that the cover artwork is so darned good.  See for yourself:

You can find out more about the anthology over at the Gritfiction Press webpage.  No firm release date yet* but I’ll post updates as soon as I hear anything definite.

*Edited to add: I’m reliably informed (by one of the editors, no less, and he should know!) that the book is due out on 2nd April.  So that’s even better news!
